During a discussion on The Waaagh forum the idea was born between Kaptun Krum and me to start a competition with painting our fleets. As Krum wanted to enter a campaign in November, Halloween seemed like a good deatline.

September 9th

The idea of the "Paint a BFG fleet kontust" is born. Right now I have the deathdeala, one kill kroozer, one terror ship and 12 brute ramships assembled and set up on the bases. One of the brute ramships is painted as a model for the rest of the fleet.
The slamblasta is still in the box together with 5 more ramships. The other models still have to arrive (it's the e-bay deal).

September 12th

Got to work on the fleet a bit yesterday and tonight. I primed two squadrons of ramships, two kroozers and the deathdeala. The ramships and the kroozers also got the brown ink wash. I got started painting Ramship Squadron I, which has now the main colour and most details. "Only" the metal bands and navigation lights are still missing.

September 15th

The rest of the models arrived on Saturday. Since then I have assembled the kroozers, the onslaughts and four ravagers. I have also finished painting the first squadron of ramships and made good success with the second. I have also started painting my first kroozer, a terrorship. Here's a picture of the kroozer and a finished ramship of the second squad.

October 31st - Halloween

Halloween did in fact not only mean sweets and bubblegum for us. We had set the goal at 500 points which I barely made, and all of us had to admit that it was not at all as easy as we had thought to paint a whole fleet in roughly two months. That's unless you don't have a real life to go along with it.
In my case the final fleet consisted of eight fully painted ramships and two kroozers with a basic paintjob. I only got started on my battlekroozer, nothing more. It was still fun though and really got me painting on my fleet. It remains to be seen when I will be able to do more painting on them.
